Existing product research- Poster for magazine

To find out some conventions and take some inspiration for my poster, I decided to have a look at some existing products from my genre to see what I liked about them. The Arctic Monkeys one on the prezi about really caught my eye and and influenced my product. I liked the tour dates etc. at the bottom and the way that the artist was the main focus and centred. Due to this I myself centred my artist, however to make him stand out even more, I put him in colour when the background is in black and white; I did this in order to reiterate his importance.
The poster from The Courteeners to advertise the St. Jude album was interesting. This is because it shows that even professionals do things the simple way at times and it can still be effective; this is proven by the album being a huge hit.
The blue Oasis poster again centred the artist which implies their dominance, after this was the case in several of the posters I researched I came to the conclusion that it was a convention and was something I would look to include in my own poster. Furthermore, with this poster I also liked the effect of Liam Gallagher being modified in order to look like a cartoon.
The black and white Oasis cover is very simple but extremely effective; which I really like in a product. The product clearly pinpoints that it's main focus is the band as they are centred and I also like the fact that the fourth wall is broken by the artist; I may look to do this in my product.
